PNC Bank Delaware Wilbur E. Postles Award

PNC Bank, N.A. Trustee of the PNC Bank Delaware (DE) Scholarships offers the Wilbur E. Postles Award for four-year Delaware residents planning to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Wilbur E. Postles Award must be:

  • Residents of Delaware for at least four years prior to applying.
  • High school seniors who plan to enroll in full-time study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Placed in the top 20% of their classes as of fall semester.
  • Have scored 1120 or higher on SAT.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent)

PNC employees or Trust committee members, their immediate family members, and members of their households are not eligible to apply.

Awards

The authorized distribution for new and renewal awards is determined by PNC Bank, N.A. Trustee of the PNC Bank Delaware (DE) Scholarships.

Awards are renewable for up to seven years in the complete discretion of the Selection Committee on the basis of satisfactory academic performance (3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent).

Awards may be renewed for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral study.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late May.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Bank, N.A. Trustee of the PNC Bank Delaware (DE) Scholarships. Payments are made in late July.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need will be considered. Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Scholarship America will process the applications for eligibility. Scholarships shall be awarded without regard to race, creed, religion, sex, national origin or similar classifications. Scholarship awards are to be made solely by a Selection Committee which shall have sole and exclusive authority to determine the number of recipients and the amounts of each award consistent with the criteria established by the Trust. The decision of the Selection Committee shall be final and not reviewable by any court, person, firm or entity.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information section of the application. Please black out all social security numbers and bank account information.
  • A copy of your driver’s license.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
