West Texas Strong Memorial Scholarship Program
The Kent Companies have established a scholarship program to assist residents of Midland or Odessa, Texas, who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
West Texas Strong Memorial Scholarship Program
The Kent Companies is comprised of multiple entities including over 100 Convenience stores across eight states, branded as Kent Kwik, Bountyland, and Tom Thumb. Other operated brands include Rustic Café; Kent Car Wash; Kent Lube Fast Oil Change Center; WesTex Urgent Care; Kent Fuels; Huddle House; Baskin Robbins; Subway; Mr. Payroll Check Cashing; and Prince Signs. The Kent Companies continue to expand their business both locally and out of state. The company continues to win “Best of” in each of the markets they serve.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Eligibility
Applicants to the West Texas Strong Memorial Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a current resident or currently be residing in Midland, TX or Odessa, TX.
- Plan to enroll in fulltime undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
Awards
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 award. Up to three (3) awards will be granted.
Awards are one-time only and not renewable. Past recipients may not reapply.
Awards must be used for education-related expenses limited to tuition, required fees, books, and course-specific supplies.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Notification
All applicants will be notified in mid-July.
Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of The Kent Companies. Payments are made in one installment in late August.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
- Academic performance
- Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
- Honors
- Work experience
- A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
- Unusual personal or family circumstances
- An online recommendation
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
In no instance does any officer or employee of The Kent Companies play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Requirements
As part of your application, you must upload the following:

- Student name
- School name
- Grades
- Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 28, 2026 3:00 PM Central Time.
Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
