Walder Scholarship Program

The Walder Scholarship Program supports the continued education of associates by providing financial assistance for accredited courses, certifications, or degree programs. Established in 2019 in honor of IDT Founder Dr. Joseph Walder and former Chief Sustainability Officer Elizabeth Walder, the program has awarded $275K USD to more than 70 associates globally.

Walder Scholarship Program

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Walder Scholarship Program must:

  • Be an Integrated DNA Technologies or Aldevron global associate who has a minimum of one (1) year employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
  • Continue to be employed at Integrated DNA Technologies or Aldevron and be in good standing as it pertains to performance standards at the time each scholarship check is processed. If an associate leaves Integrated DNA Technologies or Aldevron, they would forfeit their scholarship award.
  • Plan to enroll, or be enrolled, in part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university during the upcoming academic year. Professional certification coursework is also accepted.
    *Coursework must be relative to the associate’s role at IDT or Aldevron and approved by the associate’s supervisor. A completed Associate Coursework Approval Form must be uploaded with your application.

Associates at grade level M4 and above (IDT L1 associates) are not eligible to apply.

Awards

Up to 16 awards will be granted as follows:

  • One (1) award of $10,000 USD will be granted to the applicant with the highest merit.
  • Fifteen (15) awards of $2,000 USD will be granted to other applicants with the highest merit.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

NOTE: A student may only receive the $10,000 USD award one time. If selected as a recipient in future years, previous recipients of the $10,000 USD award will only be eligible to receive a $2,000 USD award.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study, as well as professional certification coursework.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late August.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Integrated DNA Technologies, Inc. The $2,000 USD award payments are sent in one installment in late August, and the $10,000 USD award payment is sent in two installments in late August and mid-December. Recipients outside the U.S. will receive wire transfers upon verification of enrollment.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Danaher Corporation, Integrated DNA Technologies, Inc. or Aldevron play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

Please submit an application via Scholarship America using the Apply button located at the top of this page. As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A completed Associate Coursework Approval Form (click to view and print or fill out the form).
  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

A profile has to be completed via Scholarship America to start the Walder Scholarship Program application. PLEASE NOTE: No minimum GPA is required for this program. A completed Associate Coursework Approval form is required to be uploaded with your application.

Your application is NOT complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically through Scholarship America.
