UPPO Scholarship Program

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the UPPO Scholarship Program must:

    • Be dependent* children, grandchildren or nieces/nephews, age 25 and under, of full-time employees of Unclaimed Property Professional Organization members who have been named by the member organization as an authorized representative.
*Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
    • OR

    • Be regular full-time employees of Unclaimed Property Professional Organization members who have been designated by the member organization as authorized representatives and not eligible for tuition reimbursement by the member organization.

    AND

  • Be high school seniors, high school graduates, current postsecondary undergraduates, or graduate level students.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time** undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational-technical school, or graduate school for the entire upcoming academic year.
**Employees of Unclaimed Property Professional Organization members may be enrolled part-time (minimum 6 credits).

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 award. Up to two awards will be granted.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and full-time enrollment.

Students who have previously received the scholarship and wish to renew will receive an email invitation to renew their scholarship in January and should not complete a new application.

If the scholarship recipient is the authorized representative of a UPPO member company and his/her employment is terminated either voluntarily or involuntarily, or reduced to less than full-time, the recipient is no longer eligible for renewal. If the recipient changes employment from one UPPO member company to another and maintains membership as an authorized representative of the UPPO member company, he/she may maintain renewal eligibility.

Dependent students may maintain their eligibility for renewal even if their parent or guardian is no longer employed by the UPPO member company.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late February.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.
