Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods Scholarship Program

A scholarship program to assist children of Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods team members, grandchildren of team members, and full-time team members who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods Scholarship Program

Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods has established a scholarship program to assist children of team members, grandchildren of team members and full-time team members who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods Scholarship Program must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Team Member Applicants:

  • Be full-time Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods domestic team members who have a minimum of one year employment with the company as of the application deadline date
  • Be high school seniors, high school graduates or current college undergraduates
  • Plan to enroll in full-time or part-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year

Children or Grandchildren of Team Members:

  • Be dependent* children or grandchildren**, age 25 and under, of full time Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods domestic team members who have a minimum of one year employment with the company as of the application deadline date. Award recipients of the Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods Dependent Scholarship are not subject to this employment eligibility requirement
    *Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the team member’s household or primarily supported by the team member
    **Grandchildren are not required to be the dependent of a Ukrop’s employee
  • Be high school seniors, high school graduates or current college undergraduates
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year

Children of officers and executives are ineligible.

Household income (adjusted gross income) must be less than $125,000.

First Generation students are encouraged to apply.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 or $5,000 award. Up to 6 awards will be granted provided there are qualified applicants. Four (4) Full-Time Enrollment Awards – $5,000 each for full-time team members, their dependents, and grandchildren. Two (2) Part-Time Enrollment Awards – $2,500 each for full-time team members.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale) in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program by Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in April.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods.

Payments are made in August and December.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need will be considered using household income (AGI). Recipients must have an AGI of less than $125,000.

Award must be used for qualified education-related expenses only – tuition, fees, books, and required supplies.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
