The Tracy Family Foundation has established a scholarship program for current mental health professionals who plan to continue their education in graduate study related to a mental health profession.

Tracy Family Foundation Scholarship for Mental Health Professionals

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Tracy Family Foundation Scholarship for Mental Health Professionals must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a mental health related field.
  • Be currently employed in a Mental Health Related Field within the Tracy Family Foundation’s 10 county focus area in Illinois:
    • Adams
    • Brown
    • Cass
    • Greene
    • Hancock
    • McDonough
    • Morgan
    • Pike
    • Schuyler
    • Scott

 

  • Plan to enroll in full-time or part-time graduate study related to a mental health profession at an accredited university for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum undergraduate grade point of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award as follows:

  • $5,000 award for part-time study (defined as a minimum of 12 credit hours per academic year, or equivalent), or
  • $10,000 award for full-time study (defined as a minimum of 18 credit hours per academic year, or equivalent).

Scholarship Awards may be renewed annually for up to four years total, including three renewal years following successful completion of the first year, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale).

Awards are for qualified education-related expenses only (tuition, fees, books, and required supplies/equipment). Award amounts may be adjusted if award exceeds the cost of qualified education-related expenses.

Awards are for graduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Tracy Family Foundation. Payment is made in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • A letter of recommendation from your employer describing why the applicant is a good candidate for the scholarship (250 words or less)
  • Two short answer essays:
    • Question 1: Please describe your experience of financial need as it relates to pursuing your educational goals. (100 words)
    • Question 2: Please describe your long-term plan to work in a mental health related field in West Central Illinois. (100 words)

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Tracy Family Foundation play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken
  • A letter of recommendation from your employer

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
