T-Mobile Scholars Program

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the T-Mobile Scholars Program must:

    • Be dependent* children, age 25 and under, of eligible part-time or full time regular status employees of T-Mobile US, Inc. (referred to herein as the “Company”) and/or T-Mobile Puerto Rico, LLC who are in good standing and have a minimum of one (1) year of service with the Company as of the date their child submits the application. Eligible part-time employees are defined as those who are generally scheduled to work 20 hours or more per week but less than 30 hours per week.
*Dependent children are children who qualify for benefits provided by the Company. The Company definition of qualifications includes:

      • A dependent child of an Eligible Employee who is under age 26.
      • A biological child.
      • A stepchild.
      • A legally adopted child. (A child is considered legally adopted on the earlier of the date of placement or the date the legal adoption proceedings have been started.)
      • A child of a Domestic Partner.
      • Any other child for whom the Eligible Employee is the court-appointed legal guardian.

  • Be either a current high school senior (or equivalent final year of secondary school), a high school graduate, or a current undergraduate student enrolled in a technical, college, or university program.
  • Plan to enroll in part-time** or full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
**Part-time is defined as a minimum of 6 credit hours per term or equivalent.

Children of Directors and above are ineligible.

T-Mobile may modify the eligibility requirements set forth above on an annual basis for each Program cycle.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, awards will be granted in one the following ways:

One-Time Awards

  • 100 one-time awards of up to $10,000 each will be granted. Past recipients may not reapply.
  • Award amounts may be adjusted if award exceeds the cost of qualified education-related expenses.

Renewable Awards

  • Ten renewable awards will be granted, each covering up to T-Mobile’s school cost limit of $130,000 per year for students studying in the U.S., or up to $10,000 per year for students studying outside the U.S.
  • Awards are renewable up to three (3) years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, for a total of up to four (4) years of awards. Renewal is contingent on the recipient maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and maintaining full-time or part-time enrollment. The award amount for each year for US students will be based on the recipient’s school costs.
  • For students attending school in the U.S., awards may be applied to all qualified education-related expenses, as listed on the recipient’s Financial Aid Award letter.
  • For students attending school outside the U.S., awards are for all qualified education-related expenses and will be issued as up to $10,000 awards.

Employees must be actively employed as of the date their dependent submits their application within the application submission window and meet T-Mobile’s eligibility requirements. For clarity, continued employment is not required at the time any renewable award is granted or disbursed following the dependent’s timely application submission as described above.

Award amounts are listed in U.S. dollars (USD) and award payments will be issued in USD. Recipients outside of the U.S. and Canada may choose to receive award payments in their local currency when available.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Upon receipt of consent of the recipients, T-Mobile may contact recipients for purposes of event invitations, marketing, and/or internship opportunities.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Company. Payment is made in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Academic evaluation will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.

Financial need will not be considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of the Company play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

    • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
      • Student name
      • School name
      • Grades
      • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
