Sonaca North America Scholarship

Sonaca North America has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in university, college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

Sonaca North America Scholarship

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Sonaca North America Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 25 and under, of full-time Sonaca North America, LMI Aerospace, Inc., LMI Aerostructures, LMI Engineering Services employees. Employees must reside in the United States and have a minimum of one (1) year (twelve continuous months) of employment with no more than a 30-day break in service with the company as of the application deadline date.
    *Dependent children are defined as biological, stepchildren or legally adopted children living in employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • High school seniors or high school graduates or be current postsecondary undergraduates.
  • Planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university or a vocational-technical school for the entire 2026-2027 academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $1,500 to $4,000.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

If enough qualified applications are received, awards will be limited to one per household.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Preference will be given to students indicating majors in the following fields:  all engineering majors; all math majors; all science majors, excluding social sciences, but including computer science; management information systems (MIS); and science, technology or math education.

Financial need will be considered in determining the amount of each award. Potential recipients who demonstrate no need or do not provide financial information will be eligible to receive an honorarium at the minimum amount.Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Sonaca North America play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification
All applicants will be notified in April. Recipients will be notified via U.S. Mail; non-recipients will be notified via email.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Sonaca North America. Payment is made in August.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
  • Student name
  • School name
  • Grades
  • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 5, 2026 3:00 PM Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
