The William B. Snyder Family and The GEICO Philanthropic Foundation have established an education assistance program to assist associates’ children with tuition expenses to attend a private high school.

The Snyder Family Education Assistance Program

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the The Snyder Family Education Assistance Program must be:

  • Dependent* children of any current full-time or part-time associate of GEICO** who meet these requirements:
    • Full-time associates must have worked for the companies for at least one continuous year by the application deadline date.
    • Part-time associates must have been employed by GEICO for three continuous years by the application deadline date.
  • Current students in grades 8-11 who plan to enroll or who are already attending a full-time course of study at an accredited private secondary school for grades 9-12.

Children of GEICO associates with titles of Senior Director or above are ineligible.

*Dependent children must be primarily supported by the associate. They may be natural or legally adopted children or stepchildren.

**GEICO refers to GEICO Corporation and to all subsidiaries (excluding McLane Company, Inc., Clayton Homes, Inc. and TTI, Inc.)

Awards

Annual Awards will be given equal to 50% of school costs or a maximum of $5,000 (whichever is less) per student per year.

Awards are renewable through grade 12 on the basis of satisfactory performance, continued enrollment at a private high school, and the continuation of the scholarship program.

Awards are for study at private high schools only.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes award payments on behalf of the William B. Snyder Family and The GEICO Philanthropic Foundation. Payment is made in one installment in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Recipients are selected on the basis of financial need.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or associate of GEICO play a part in the selection.

The maximum amount of awards distributed will be equal to 25% of the total number of eligible applicants.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • The first two pages of the GEICO associate’s most recent copy of U.S. Income Tax Return (Please black out SSN).
  • A brochure or other statement providing the school’s annual tuition.
  • A school transcript to confirm satisfactory academic performance (a 2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale).

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.

Yes, financial information is required to be considered for this award. You will need the
following information to complete this application: The associate parent/guardian(s) must
complete the financial section using the most recently filed income tax return:

  • State of Residence
  • Adjusted gross income
  • Total federal tax paid
  • Total income of parent/guardian
  • Total income of other parent/guardian
  • Yearly untaxed income and benefits
  • Medical and dental expenses not paid by insurance
  • Total cash, checking, savings, cash value of stocks, etc.
  • Total number of family members living in the household and primarily supported by the reported income
  • Marital status of parent or guardian
  • Of the total number of family members, number of students attending a private high school or college at least half-time during the next school year

Financial need is primarily determined by calculating the amount a family can reasonably be expected to contribute toward their child’s education using a process that is very similar to the federal methodology (FASFA). All financial components listed on the application are taken into consideration.

Important: Incomplete applications will not be considered. There is no appeal process. Again, we recommend students submit applications in advance of the deadline to allow for customer service help if needed.

A copy of the parents’ most recent 1040, as well the 2025-2026 annual cost of the private high school the student will be attending. Costs include tuition, books, and supplies. A copy of this information can be obtained from the school, and it will need to be uploaded as a document on the application.

Yes. A transcript is required only to confirm satisfactory academic performance (2.0 GPA or greater on a 4.0 scale).
