Price Chopper/Market 32 has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors in an eligible Price Chopper/Market 32 marketing area who plan to continue their education in college.

Price Chopper/Market 32 Community Scholarships

These scholarships have been established to support students from all backgrounds and with all identities, with emphasis on underrepresented backgrounds in higher education. We strongly encourage applications from all communities, in alignment with our mission to expand access and opportunity.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Price Chopper/Market 32 Community Scholarships must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities (pursuing any field of study)
  • OR

  • Plan to pursue a business degree
  • AND

  • Be a high school senior
  • Plan to enroll in part-time or full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
  • Reside in a Price Chopper/Market 32 marketing area in which Price Chopper/Market 32 operates. Eligible states are limited to: Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Pennsylvania.

Northeast Shared Services, Tops Markets and PriceChopper/Market 32 Supermarket employees and their immediate family members (spouse, children, and grandchildren) are ineligible.

Awards

The authorized distribution for new awards is $6,000.

Entrepreneurial AdvantEdge Scholarship (to recognize entrepreneurial spirit, in memory of Lewis Golub) – 1 award of $2,000 will be granted.  Recipient must be a high school senior planning to pursue a business degree.

Community AdvantEdge Scholarship (presented by Neil Golub and in memory of Jane Golub) – 1 award of $2,000 will be granted.  Recipient must be a high school senior planning to pursue a business degree.

Ability AdvantEdge Scholarship – 1 award of $2,000 will be granted.  Recipient must be a high school senior with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.

Awards are not renewable. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in mid July.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Price Chopper/Market 32. Payment is made in mid-August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Price Chopper play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
