Phillips 66 Community STEM Scholarship Program
Phillips 66 Company has established a scholarship program to assist students who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
Phillips 66 Community STEM Scholarship Program
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Eligibility
Applicants to the Phillips 66 Community STEM Scholarship Program must:
- Be high school seniors
- Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year
- Be pursuing a degree or certification in STEM
- Be interested in a career in oil and gas, manufacturing, or chemical industries
- Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
Awards
Up to 66 awards will be granted. Awards for recipients attending four-year college/university will be $5,000. Awards for recipients attending a community college or vocational-technical school will be $2,000.
Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree or vocational/trade degree or certificate is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of:
- Satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (GPA) on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent).
- Being enrolled as a full-time student at all times, i.e., at least 12 credit hours per semester or 24 credits hours during the school year (or the equivalent course load at institutions not utilizing credit hours as a measurement).
- Continued pursuit of a degree or certification in STEM.
Students who drop below full-time enrollment, do not maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA, discontinue their pursuit of a degree or certification in STEM, or who fail or withdraw from more than one-third of their total credit hours in any one school year will forfeit their scholarship. Students may petition for continuation of the award upon enrolling in the summer session to meet the above requirements. An exception may be made if absence from classes is on account of illness, certified to by a physician, or other exceptional reasons determined to have been the cause of such withdrawl.
Students may defer their award if volunteering for or called into active military service, or for a church mission. The award will be reactivated upon petition by the recipient. Students who willingly participate in illegal activities that come to the attention of Company or Contractor will immediately forfeit their scholarship. Awards are for undergraduate study only and can be used for tuition, books and required supplies.
Notification
All applicants will be notified in May.
Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Phillips 66 Company. Payment is made in August.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
- Academic performance
- Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
- Work experience
- A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
- Unusual personal or family circumstances
Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Phillips 66 Company play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Requirements
As part of your application, you must upload the following:
- A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
- Student name
- School name
- Grades
- Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
