Pebble Beach Company Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college, vocational-technical school or graduate school programs.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Students who have previously received a Pebble Beach Scholarship and wish to renew will receive an email invitation to renew their scholarship in January 2026 and should not complete a new application. A student who has graduated with their bachelor’s degree and wishes to apply for a scholarship for their master’s degree will need to submit a new application.
Applicants to the Pebble Beach Scholarship Program must:
Children of employees at the level of Vice President or above are ineligible.
Children of employees on a Personal Leave of Absence at the time of application or award payment distribution are ineligible.
Children of employees on a job-protected Leave of Absence, including without limitation, those qualifying under FMLA/CFRA, pregnancy disability leave or other legally protected forms of leave remain eligible.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,500 to $7,500. Students attending four-year universities will receive $5,000 and students attending two-year colleges or vocational-technical schools will receive $2,500. The undergraduate awards may be renewed up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.
The top-performing student, based on all criteria, attending a four-year university will be awarded the Susan Merfeld Scholarship in the amount of $7,500.
The scholar demonstrating substantial community service will receive the Mark Verbonich Scholarship in the amount of $5,000.
There will be one (1) $5,000 graduate scholarship available to students, age 25 or under, at the time of application. The graduate award may be renewed for a second consecutive year or until a graduate degree is earned, whichever occurs first. A student who has been a recipient during their undergraduate study must submit a new application to be considered for a graduate study scholarship.
Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance (i.e., freshman maintaining a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale; a 3.0 GPA is required after the freshman year), full-time enrollment, continued employment of the student’s parent, in good standing, at Pebble Beach Company, and continuation of the program by the Pebble Beach Company Foundation. Renewal students will be asked to submit a short essay describing their progress in accomplishing goals and providing any changes in educational plans.
Awards are for undergraduate or graduate study.
Applicants will be notified in March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.
Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.
