AVID Scholarship Programs

Orange County Community Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors that are currently enrolled in the AVID elective class and who plan to continue their education in a four-year college or university.

AVID Scholarship Programs

Orange County Community Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors that are currently enrolled in the AVID elective class and who plan to continue their education in a four-year college or university.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

One common application is completed to apply to any of the below funds. Applicants must meet the following criteria and the criteria of one or more of the scholarships listed:

  • Be a student from Orange County, CA, who has participated in the AVID program for at least 3 years (from grades 6-12)
  • Be a current high school senior, and currently enrolled in the AVID elective class
  • Plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum weighted grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must demonstrate financial need

AVID: Dad’s House Scholarship

  • Be students from Orange County, CA who have participated in AVID program for at least 3 years
  • Be a current high school senior who plans to enroll full-time in an undergraduate study at an accredited four- year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the community
  • Awards are renewable until the maximum award amount is distributed, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and full-time enrollment
  • An estimated award amount of $3,000 will be granted for undergraduate study only

AVID: Scholarship Fund

  • Be students from Orange County, CA who have participated in the AVID program for at least 3 years
  • Be a current high school senior who plans to enroll full-time in an undergraduate study at an accredited four- year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the community
  • Awards are one-time only and are not renewable
  • Award amount to be determined and will be granted for undergraduate study only

AVID: Syage Family Scholarship Fund

  • Be students from Orange County CA who have participated in the AVID program for at least 3 years
  • Be a current high school senior who plans to enroll full-time in an undergraduate study at an accredited four- year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the community
  • Awards are one-time only and are not renewable
  • Award amount to be determined and will be granted for undergraduate study only

AVID: Orange County Centennial Scholarship Fund (Academic Awards)

  • Be a high school senior from Orange County, CA who have completed their last three years of high school in Orange County, CA and who have participated in the AVID program for at least 3 years
  • Plan to enroll full-time and pursue an undergraduate degree at an accredited four- year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrate community involvement and leadership
  • Awards are one-time only and are not renewable
  • An estimated award amount of $2,000 – $5,000 will be granted for undergraduate study only

AVID: Orange County Centennial Scholarship Fund (Art Awards)

  • Be a high school senior from Orange County, CA who have completed their last three years of high school in Orange County, CA and who have participated in the AVID program for at least 3 years
  • Plan to enroll full-time and pursue an undergraduate degree at an accredited four- year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrate community involvement and leadership
  • Be pursuing a degree in Art (including- Dance, Voice, Opera, Theatre Arts, Musical, Visual Arts or Music)
  • Awards are one-time only and are not renewable
  • An estimated award amount of $2,000 – $5,000 will be granted for undergraduate study only

AVID: Priscilla and Ranney Draper Scholars Fund

  • Be students from Orange County, CA who have participated in AVID program for at least 3 years
  • Be a current high school senior who plans to enroll full-time in an undergraduate study at an accredited four- year college or university
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the entire upcoming academic year
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the community
  • Awards are renewable until the maximum award amount is distributed, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and full-time enrollment
  • An estimated award amount of $5,000 will be granted for undergraduate study only

AVID: Beatrice Levin Scholarship Fund

  • Be students from Orange County, CA who have participated in AVID program for at least 3 years
  • Be a current high school senior who plans to enroll full-time in an undergraduate study at an accredited four- year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the community
  • Awards are one-time only and are not renewable
  • Award amount to be determined and will be granted for undergraduate study only

AVID: Charles H. & Ethel E. Wolfe Scholarship Endowment

  • Be a high school senior from Orange County, CA who has participated in the AVID program for at least 3 years
  • Plan to enroll full-time in an undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Have high scholastic achievements and community involvement
  • Awards are one-time only and are not renewable
  • An estimated award amount of $1,500 – $2,500 will be granted for undergraduate study only

Awards

Awards ranging from $1,500 to $7,500 will be granted.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Deferrals will be considered on a case-by-case basis in consultation with Orange County Community Foundation.

Notification

All applicants will be notified mid-April.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Orange County Community Foundation. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Scholarship America will select 75 finalists and Orange County Community Foundation will select recipients and award amounts. Orange County Community Foundation will also select alternates if recipients decline their award.

Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than December 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM Pacific Time/3:00 PM Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
