New York Life – Golden Futures Scholarship
The New York Life – Golden Futures Scholarship identifies and awards outstanding high school students who have completed specified New York Life Golden Futures Scholarship game modules.
New York Life – Golden Futures Scholarship
The New York Life Golden Futures Scholarship is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Eligibility
Applicants to the New York Life – Golden Futures Scholarship must:
- Be a high school graduate in the class of 2026 or 2027, who is a legal resident of the 50 United States of the District of Columbia.
- Complete the required number of levels of the New York Life – Golden Futures game.
- Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college/university or vocational-technical or trade school for the entire upcoming academic year (or following year for juniors).
- Fulfill any other eligibility requirements set forth in the New York Life – Golden Futures Scholarship Official Rules.
Children of employees and agents of New York Life and Supplier are ineligible.
*High school juniors who are selected as recipients will have their award deferred for one year and will receive their award upon high school graduation and enrollment for that upcoming academic year. Students must have completed their junior or senior year to be eligible to apply.
Awards
Assuming there are qualified applicants, a total of 20 scholarships will be awarded:
- Eight $20,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who have completed at least 50 different modules in the game.
- Twelve $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who have completed at least 25 modules in the game.
The game will provide at least 150 modules from which the applicants can select.
Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to attend an exclusive in-person celebration in New York City in early August. Full event details will be shared upon recipient announcement.
Rules and Restrictions
Awards are one-time only. Past recipients cannot reapply.
Awards are for undergraduate study, and can be used for any education-related expenses (e.g. tuition, fees, books, supplies and required materials). Awards cannot be used for non-educational related expenses (e.g. room and board, activities, travel, etc.)
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship America will select finalists on the basis of:
- Essay: We believe people can achieve more together than they ever can alone, that is why we created the New York Life Golden Futures Scholarship. Please tell us what you have learned while working through the NYL modules. How will this help you achieve your further educational and financial goals? What processes or best practices will you use to be more financially prepared to move into the world on your own? Who will you need by your side to achieve these goals?
- Academic performance
- Personal details (activities, work experience, goals statement, etc.)
Financial need will not be considered.
Scholarship America will identify and select scholarship finalists, and New York Life will select the recipients from the group of selected finalists. Not all applicants to the scholarship will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Notification
All applicants will be notified in late July.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments. Payment is made in August.
Requirements
As part of your application, you must upload the following:

A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
• Student name
• School name
• Grades
• Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
