  • An applicant must reside in one of the following Counties identified below and referenced as a designated geographic area:
    • Bedford County, PA
    • Somerset County, PA
    • Mineral County, WV
    • Hampshire County, WV
    • Allegany County, MD
    • Garrett County, MD
    • Definition of Residence:

    • Applicant must physically occupy a house, apartment or other dwelling within the designed geographic area of above referenced six counties.
    • As well as having their domicile or legal residence within the specified geographic area of six counties indicated.
      • Applicants temporarily residing outside of the specified area with the sole purpose of attending an educational institution outside of the designated area will be considered as “residing in” unless the temporary absence exceeds twelve consecutive months in duration.
      • Applicants domiciled or having a legal residence outside of the indicated six-county specified geographic area but temporarily living in the area for the sole purpose of attending an educational institution are not eligible for assistance.
      • Foundation will consider applicants residing outside of the six-county specified geographic area only in the event that the number of applicants/awards from within the area is insufficient to ensure distribution from Foundation’s distributable amount for the current year.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Be a high school senior or high school graduate.

PNC employees or Trust committee members, their immediate family members, and members of their households are not eligible to apply.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $3,000 to $5,000. Awards are renewable up to five years total per degree type (undergraduate, graduate, professional), on the basis of continued full-time enrollment and satisfactory academic performance, which is defined as maintaining a cumulative 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Renewal award amounts may vary annually and are determined by the sponsor. Recipients may only receive an award toward one of each degree type. For example, if a student has received a scholarship award toward a bachelor’s degree, they may not reapply for an award to gain a second bachelor’s degree, but may reapply for an award toward a graduate or professional degree.

Applicants must reapply to the Program after completing their bachelor degree to be considered to receive an award for graduate study.

Awards may be for undergraduate, graduate or professional degrees.
