The Legacy Foundation for Bayview Hunters Point has established a scholarship to assist students who reside in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood who plan to continue their education in college.
Lennar Bayview Hunters Point Legacy Foundation Scholarship
The Legacy Foundation for Bayview Hunters Point, in partnership with Lennar, FivePoint and the Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure (“OCII”), has established a scholarship to assist students who reside in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood in the 94124, 94134 and 94107 zip codes and are pursuing a diploma, certificate, or degree in college or vocational-technical school.
The Legacy Foundation was established as part of the Bayview Hunters Point Shipyard Redevelopment Project to intentionally strengthen the Bayview community as the neighborhood’s physical environment undergoes transformation. The Legacy Foundation is overseen by a Board of Directors that is reflective of the community and other agencies. The goal of the Legacy Foundation’s programs is to benefit low- and moderate-income families; eliminate blight; and to meet other urgent community development needs of the Bayview Hunters Point community through neighborhood building, education & workforce improvement and expanding homeownership opportunities. The Legacy Foundation firmly believes that a well-educated, highly skilled workforce may be the most important ingredient in strengthening the economy and ensuring a higher quality of life in Bayview Hunters Point.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility
Applicants to the Lennar Bayview Hunters Point Legacy Foundation Scholarship must:
- Be youth or young adults up to age 30 by deadline date
- Be high school seniors or graduates (or GED) or current college undergraduates or graduate-level students
- Reside in the Bayview Hunters Point zip codes 94124, 94107, and 94134
- Plan to enroll in full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited1 two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the applicable term
- Be pursuing a diploma, certificate2, or degree
- Have a household adjusted gross income (AGI) at or below 100% of the 2025 HUD SF Area Median Income (AMI) level for household size (see Awards tab for AMI chart)
1Program must be regionally accredited.
2Certification programs must be through an accredited institution and must run on a standard academic semester calendar. Certification programs must be a minimum of one semester/term in length.
Awards
Academic Scholarship Awards
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 and distributed on a first come, first served basis, as follows:

Living Stipend Awards
In addition to the Academic Scholarship awards, recipients of the Academic Scholarships are eligible to receive a Living Stipend, which are also awarded on a first come first served basis. Applicants for Living Stipend must first qualify for and receive Academic Scholarship Award. Applicants will only fill out one application, each applicant will have the to ability to select an option to apply for a living stipend award, distributed as follows:

Awards do not renew, however, previous applicants can reapply to the program each year they meet the eligibility requirements.
Awards are for vocational, technical, certificate, undergraduate and graduate study and can be used for any education-related expenses.
Notification
All applicants will be notified in June.
Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of OCII. Payment is made in early August.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship America will verify age, residency using eligible zip codes, grade point average (GPA), enrollment status, and financial need. Recipients must demonstrate need and permanent residency (temporary or boarding residents are not eligible).
Financial need eligibility, based on the self-reported adjusted gross income (AGI), will be determined using the applicable HUD Metro Fair Market Rent Area Medium Income (AMI) using the following table:

Requirements
As part of your application, you must upload the following:
- A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken
- A copy of your GED
- A copy of the most recently filed 1040 Tax Form to confirm AGI (Please black out SSN)
