Kimco Realty Corporation Scholarship Program

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be dependent* children, age 26 and under, of full-time Kimco Realty employees who have a minimum of one year of employment as of the application deadline.
    *Dependent children are children who qualify for benefits provided by the company.
  • Be high school seniors or graduates, or current undergraduate or graduate students, who plan to enroll full-time** at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
    **Disabled applicants may attend part- or full-time.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent).

Special consideration will be given to students who meet the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) definition of having a disability: “a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, a person who has a history or record of such an impairment, or a person who is perceived by others as having such an impairment.***
***Applicants with disabilities that meet the ADA definition will be required to provide medical documentation.

Awards

  • If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $1,000 to $20,000.
  • Financial need will be considered in determining the award amount. Recipients must demonstrate need.
  • The parent must be employed by Kimco Realty at the time awards are distributed.
  • Awards are not renewable; however students are encouraged to reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
  • Awards are for undergraduate and graduate studies.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Financial need

Recipients will be selected from a pool of qualified applicants with consideration given to those who demonstrate the greatest need.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in mid-April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Kimco Realty. Payments for awards less than $10,000 are made in one installment in early August. Payments for awards of $10,000 and above are made in equal installments, in early August and mid-December. The parent must be employed by Kimco Realty at the time the awards are distributed.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information page (Please black out SSN).
  • Medical Documentation (required for applicants with disabilities only).

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
