Johnson Financial Group Scholarship Program

Johnson Financial Group has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants of the Johnson Financial Group Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent children*, age 23 and under, of active associates of Johnson Financial Group or any of its subsidiaries, who work 20 hours per week or more and who have a minimum of two years employment with the company as of the application deadline date and continue to be employed with Johnson Financial Group when awards are sent.
*Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • High school seniors or graduates or current postsecondary undergraduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- year or four- year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Children of Leadership Team Members are not eligible to participate in this program.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,000 to $3,000 for full-time associates’ children that demonstrate financial need.

Awards will be $500 for part-time associates’ children that demonstrate financial need.

A one-time $500 honorarium will be given to students who qualify for an award but do not demonstrate financial need. Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

The parent must be employed by Johnson Financial Group at the time awards are sent.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Johnson Financial Group. Awards will be paid in one installment in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation
  • Financial need

Applicants demonstrating financial need will be selected over those not demonstrating financial need when all other qualifications are equal.
