Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Scholarship Program

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation (Public Charity) has established a scholarship program to assist students who plan to enroll in a part-time or full-time firefighter, law enforcement, or emergency medical (paramedic or EMT) program at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the U.S. for the entire upcoming academic year.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Scholarship Program

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Community applicants interested in applying for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Scholarship must:

  • Be a high school senior or graduate, or a current college undergraduate, and
  • Plan to enroll in a part-time or full-time firefighter, law enforcement, or emergency medical (paramedic or EMT) program at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the U.S. for the entire upcoming academic year and
  • Plan to pursue a career as a first responder (firefighter, police officer, paramedic or EMT).

Firehouse Subs employee applicants interested in applying for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Scholarship must:

  • Be a Firehouse Subs employee who has a minimum of six months employment with the company as of the application deadline, and
  • Be a high school senior or graduate, or current college undergraduate, and
  • Plan to enroll in a part-time or full-time firefighter, law enforcement, or emergency medical (paramedic or EMT) program at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the U.S. for the entire upcoming academic year and
  • Plan to pursue a career as a first responder (firefighter, police officer, paramedic or EMT).

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification


Applicants will be notified in late June.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address (firehousesubsfoundation@scholarshipamerica.org) as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships


Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation (public charity). Payments are made in early August.

Selection of Recipients


Scholarship applicants are evaluated based on:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of public safety career and educational goals
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.

Scholarship America will select 20 finalists and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation will select community recipients based on essay materials.

Scholarship America will select Firehouse Subs employee recipients.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  1. A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  2. NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

  3. Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information Page (Please black out SSN).

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than three business days after the application deadline.

Note: Firehouse Subs employees, we suggest using your franchisee or general manager as a recommender. 

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
