Dallas College Pathway Transfer Success Award Program

The Dallas College Pathway Transfer Success Award Program, administered by the Dallas College Foundation, provides financial support to eligible Dallas College students and graduates who plan to transfer to a participating four-year university to pursue a bachelor’s degree. The award is designed to support persistence, retention, and college-related expenses during the transfer transition.

Dallas College Pathway Transfer Success Award Program

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Awards

  • Eligible students may receive a $1,000 award per semester, starting with this initial application.
  • Awards may be renewed for up to five additional semesters, or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.
  • Renewal is contingent upon:
    • Being in good academic standing at a participating university
    • Full-time enrollment
    • Continued funding availability from the Dallas College Foundation
  • Awards are available for undergraduate study only.
  • The total number of awards will be determined based on the number of eligible applicants and available funding.

Notification

  • All applicants will be notified in May.
  • Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.
  • Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Award

  • Scholarship America processes award payments on behalf of the Dallas College Foundation.
  • Payments are issued in June (based on award acceptance and receipt of the recipient’s W-9 form) and made directly to the recipient by check.
  • Award payments may be considered taxable income. Recipients must submit a completed W-9 and will receive a 1099-MISC. Students are encouraged to consult a tax professional regarding tax implications if needed.

Selection of Recipients

  • Recipients are selected based solely on program eligibility criteria.
  • Financial need is not considered.
  • Eligibility determinations are made by Dallas College and the Dallas College Foundation
  • Ineligible applicants will not be selected as recipients.
  • All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Student Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants to the Dallas College Pathway Transfer Success Award Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a Dallas College undergraduate student who has;
    • Graduated from Dallas College (having taken at least 12 hours during the most recent semester).
    • AND/OR

    • Earned at least 30 credit hours at Dallas College (completed at least 12 hours during the most recent semester).
  • Will be enrolled full time (12+ credit hours) and Pell-eligible
  • Plan to enroll full-time for the upcoming academic year at one of the eligible partner universities*
  • Have a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 at Dallas College
  • Be a Dallas County Promise Student High School graduate.
  • Complete all required application materials, including a W-9 or appropriate tax documentation (you will be instructed to submit the W-9 form after initial application submission), as part of the application process.
  • In the application, provide authorization for Dallas College and the receiving university to share academic data and review academic records for possible reverse transfer of credit toward earning an associate degree at Dallas College, if not already earned one.

*Eligible transfer institutions include:

  • University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas)
  • Southern Methodist University (SMU)
  • Texas Woman’s University (TWU)
  • East Texas A&M University
  • University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas)

Students must report the award to the financial aid office at the institution to which they transferred. Applications are considered incomplete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.

Please note that verification of enrollment at an eligible university will be collected by Dallas College after applications are submitted each semester to confirm eligibility to receive the award.
