Dallas College Transfer Success Stipend Program

Dallas College Foundation has established a stipend program for Dallas College students or graduates who plan to continue their education transfer to either at the University of Texas at Dallas, Southern Methodist University, Texas Woman’s University, East Texas A&M University or the University of North Texas at Dallas. The stipend is intended increase persistence and retention and support expenses while pursuing a bachelor’s degree.

Dallas College Transfer Success Stipend Program

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Stipend Award

If eligible for an stipend award, the students will receive a $1,000 award stipend for the semester. The amount of awards granted will be determined at a later date based on the number of eligible recipients.

Awards may be renewed for up to five additional semesters or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.

Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance (maintaining at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale) in a full-time course of study at an eligible college and funding continuation of the program by the Dallas College Foundation.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

  • All applicants will be notified in February.
  • Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.
  • Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Stipends

  • Scholarship America processes stipend payments on behalf of the Dallas College Foundation.
  • Stipend payment is made February.
  • Recipients must give both Dallas College and four-year institution clearance to share academic data.
  • Awards are made payable to the recipient. Awards may be taxable to the recipient. Recipients must upload a completed W-9 form and will be sent a 1099- Misc forms. Recipients should work with a tax professional to determine whether or not their grant is taxable.

Selection of Recipients

  • Stipend recipients are selected on the basis of their eligibility for an award.
  • Financial need is not considered.
  • Determination of eligibility is made by the Dallas College Foundation.
  • Ineligible applicants will not be selected as recipients.
  • All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Student Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants to the Dallas College Transfer Success Stipend Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a Dallas College undergraduate student who has;
    • Graduated from Dallas College (having taken at least 12 hours during the most recent semester).
    • AND/OR

    • Acquired at least 30 hours of accumulated credit at Dallas College (having taken at least 12 hours during the most recent semester).
  • Are a full-time Pell-eligible student taking at least 12 hours during the most recent semester.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at University of Texas at Dallas (“UT-D”), Southern Methodist University (“SMU”), University of North Texas at Dallas (“UNT-D”), East Texas A&M, or Texas Woman’s University for the entire upcoming academic year and be able to provide proof of enrollment.
  • Have an accumulated grade point average at Dallas College of preferred 3.0.
  • Be a Dallas County Promise Student High School graduate.

In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements, to receive a stipend, students must:

  • If chosen as a recipient, complete and upload a W9 form.
  • Be documented as enrolled by an eligible partner school.
  • Give clearance for both Dallas College and the student’s transfer university to share their academic data.
