William H. & Henrietta Y. Clough Memorial Scholarship Program

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the William H. & Henrietta Y. Clough Memorial Scholarship Program must:

  • Be identified as the top high school seniors at Meadville Area Senior High School.
  • Be planning to enroll for the first time in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school.
  • Have applied for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and accepted all offered grants and work study.

The Clough scholarship is intended as a “last dollar” award; each applicant must provide all financial aid awards he/she receives (except loans).

PNC employees or Trust committee members, their immediate family members, and members of their households are not eligible to apply.

Awards

Financial need will be considered in determining the amount of each award. Award will be determined by subtracting other awards and aid from the student’s cost of attendance.

Awards are for tuition, room, board, books/academic supplies and school fees. Transportation, private tutoring/lessons and personal supplies are not covered. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in August.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Bank, N.A. Payments are made in September.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
