CITGO Petroleum Corporation Scholarship Program
CITGO Petroleum Corporation has established a scholarship program to assist the children of CITGO employees and retirees who plan to continue their education in college. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited four-year college or university.
CITGO Petroleum Corporation Scholarship Program
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Eligibility
Applicants to the CITGO Petroleum Corporation Scholarship Program must be:
- dependent children* of regularly scheduled employees or retired employees of CITGO or one of the subsidiary companies who have completed a minimum of one year of employment as of the application deadline date;*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in a parental relationship with the eligible employee or retiree.
- actively enrolled high school seniors who plan to graduate in the year of application;
- have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent);
- plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university no later than fall 2025.

- An online recommendation
Preference will be given to students with STEM and Business Majors.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of CITGO Petroleum Corporation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of CITGO Petroleum Corporation. Payments are made in early August. Employees must be employed at the time checks are issued.
Awards
CITGO offers a limited number of $4,000 scholarships each year.
Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or better (on a 4.0 scale) in a full-time course of study at an accredited four-year college or university, continued employment of the CITGO parent employee and continuation of the program by CITGO Petroleum Corporation.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Notification
Applicants will be notified in early April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Requirements
As part of your application, you must upload the following:
- Student name
- School name
- Grades
- Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than February 20, 2026 at 3:00 PM Central Time.
