Blount Fine Foods Scholarship Program

Blount Fine Foods has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children and grandchildren who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

Blount Fine Foods Scholarship Program

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Blount Fine Foods Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children and grandchildren**, age 26 and under, of full-time Blount Fine Foods employees who have a minimum of six (6) months of employment with the company as of the application deadline.
    *Dependent children refers to natural or legally adopted children, stepchildren, or legal wards of the employee who qualify for benefits provided by the company.
    ** Grandchildren do not need to be dependents of employees.
  • High school seniors, high school graduates, current undergraduates, or graduate students who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent). Students enrolled in a four-year or graduate program with a 2.75 or higher may be eligible to receive one of up to three special awards.

Children and grandchildren of owners are ineligible to apply.

Children and grandchildren of executives (President, Executive Vice President, Senior Vice President, and Vice President) are ineligible to apply.

Awards

An award of $10,000 will be granted to one (1) of the top-ranking applicants with a 3.0 GPA or higher (or equivalent) enrolled in a four-year or graduate program. Up to two (2) of the top-ranking applicants with 2.75 GPA or higher (or equivalent) enrolled in a four-year or graduate program will be granted awards of $5,000 each. Awards of $2,000 each will be granted to up to 15 recipients. Award amounts may vary based on number of applicants received.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Their parent, grandparent or guardian must be actively employed at the time of application.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Blount Fine Foods. Payments are made in one installment in mid-August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Blount Fine Foods play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
