Physicians of Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital, Troy have established a scholarship program to assist physicians’ children, employees and employees’ children who plan to continue education in college.

BLEARN Scholarship Program

Physicians of Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital, Troy have established a scholarship program to assist physicians’ children, employees and employees’ children who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the BLEARN Scholarship Program must meet all of the criteria in one of the following categories:

Employee Eligibility:

  • Be actively employed full-time or part-time (minimum of 20 hours per week)
  • Be current college undergraduates
  • Must be enrolled in a full-time or part-time undergraduate allied health or nursing program at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year

Children of Employees Eligibility:

  • Be a child of an active full-time or part-time (minimum of 20 hours/week) employee
  • Be high school seniors or graduates or current college undergraduates
  • Plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate allied health or nursing program at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year

Children of Physicians, or Private Practice Physicians Eligibility:

  • Be a child of an active full-time physician or private practice physician
  • Be high school seniors or graduates or current college undergraduates
  • Plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate allied health or nursing program at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Contingent employees, corporate employees, employees and all children of any other Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital are not eligible. Employees or children of employees of other locations may be eligible if the employee is reporting to Troy for ambulatory services (i.e. Tilch building, Health & Wellness Center, etc.).

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive one of the following:

  • Awards of $2,000 each will be granted to applicants for full-time enrollment where the employee is full-time.
  • Awards of $1,000 each will be granted to applicants where the employee is part-time or to employee applicants enrolled part-time.
  • The authorized distribution for new awards is $30,000

Awards for full-time employees or children of full-time employees who change to part-time employment, or employee recipients who change enrollment from full-time to part-time will have their award adjusted to $1,000.

The employee/parent must be employed at the time payments are issued to be eligible to receive the payment.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements, however a student who has received two awards may not be considered for additional awards.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in early July. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the physicians of Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital Troy. Payment is made in one installment in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any Troy Staff Physician, or officer or employee of Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital Troy or Corewell Health play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 25, 2026 3:00 PM Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
