Arch Resources Scholarship Program

The Arch Resources Scholars Program recognizes the outstanding high school achievements of dependent sons and daughters of active employees of Arch Resources, Inc. and its subsidiaries. The program is designed to provide financial support to assist students in realizing their goals for higher education.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Arch Resources Scholars Program must be:

  • Dependent children, whose parents or legal guardians are employees of Arch Resources, Inc. or its subsidiaries who have a minimum of two years of full-time employment as of the application deadline and is an active employee at the time of selection.
  • High school seniors who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award.  Up to eight (8) awards will be granted.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance as follows:

  • Freshman year: Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Sophomore year: Cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
  • Junior year: Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Recipients must remain enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study to remain eligible to renew their award. Renewals will not be subject to employment status of the Arch Resources, Inc. employee parent. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Scholarship deferrals may be granted to students for a leave of absence from their studies for special circumstances. Requests for deferral must be submitted in writing to Scholarship America.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in late April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.
