AbbVie Community Equity Scholarship

AbbVie Bioresearch Center, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist current undergraduate sophomores living in or planning to attend community college in select Massachusetts counties and are pursuing a STEM-related education and career.

AbbVie Community Equity Scholarship

AbbVie Bioresearch Center, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist current undergraduates living in or attending accredited 2-year community colleges in the following Massachusetts counties: Middlesex, Norfolk, Suffolk, Worcester.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team

Eligibility

Applicants to the AbbVie Community Equity Scholarship must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Be current undergraduate sophomores residing in and/or attending an accredited 2-year community college in one of the following counties in Massachusetts:
    • Middlesex
    • Norfolk
    • Suffolk
    • Worcester
  • Be pursuing a degree in STEM
  • Plan to transfer to an accredited 4-year college or university in the U.S. for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Be a first-generation college student*

Children and grandchildren of AbbVie Bioresearch Center, Inc. or any of its affiliates are ineligible.

*Neither parent having earned an Associate degree or higher.

Awards

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need will be considered. Applicants must demonstrate need.

Up to eight (8) awards ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 will be granted. Awards are for undergraduate study only at an accredited 4-year college or university in the U.S.

Recipients will be invited to attend an on-site tour at one of the AbbVie facilities, where they will have lunch and learn about career opportunities at AbbVie.

Awards are one-time only. Past recipients may not reapply.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of AbbVie Bioresearch Center, Inc. play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in March.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of AbbVie Bioresearch Center, Inc. Payment is made in September.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken
  • Copy of FAFSA Submission Summary

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than January 16, 2026 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
