Celebrating 50 Years of Partnership: The Toro Company and Scholarship America

Some business relationships begin and end with a transaction. But the ones that are built to last are based on shared goals and values. For fifty years, The Toro Company and Scholarship America have shared the belief that people deserve a fair shot at a brighter future—and in 2026, we are proud to celebrate a milestone that reflects five decades of meaningful impact.  

In 1976, The Toro Company became Scholarship America’s first corporate client, setting the foundation for both companies to grow their impact together. What began as a commitment to supporting the children of Toro employees has grown into a legacy that has touched the lives of countless students and families across generations.

To date, The Toro Company and Scholarship America have received more than 3,000 applications and distributed more than $4.7 million in scholarships to 1,409 students, a testament to what a sustained, purpose-driven partnership can accomplish. Today, that partnership is as strong as ever, and the stories it has made possible are nothing short of remarkable.

Hear From the Students Who Lived It

To mark the 50^th anniversary of our partnership, Scholarship America reached out to recipients of The Toro Company Scholarship, inviting them to share directly how their lives were shaped by this scholarship. Their words are a powerful reminder of why this work matters.

For Treg, the scholarship made an immediate difference. “This scholarship was a major help in reducing my student loans, which allowed me to focus on adjusting to college life without having to work during my first year. It also gave me the opportunity to be a college athlete,” he said.

Treg is currently completing his second year and continuing to build on the foundation this support helped create. He added: “I appreciate The Toro Company using Scholarship America. It makes it easier for me to keep my scholarship active and up to date.”

For Daniela, the scholarship meant more than financial relief — it meant recognition. “Receiving this scholarship meant a great deal to both me and my family,” she said. “Starting university is an exciting but also challenging step, especially financially. Knowing that I had support from the beginning of my Biomedical Engineering studies gave me confidence and peace of mind. Beyond the financial help, the scholarship made me feel recognized and motivated. It reminded me that my effort and dedication matter.”

As a first-year student, Daniela is already clear about the path ahead. “My education has shaped my passion for science, technology, and problem-solving. I want to contribute to improving people’s lives through medical innovation and technology — and this scholarship has helped make that possible.”

On the significance of this milestone partnership, Daniela added: “I would say thank you for investing in students and their dreams. Supporting education creates opportunities that can change lives. Programs like this encourage students like me to pursue challenging careers and strive to make a positive impact in the future.”

Fifty years is a remarkable achievement, but for The Toro Company and Scholarship America, it is also a launching pad. The same values that sparked this partnership in 1976 continue to drive it today: a belief in the power of education, a commitment to community, and a conviction that every student deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
