In this month’s blog post, we’re featuring a generous program from Equitable, a STEM award from the HRG Charitable Foundation and, in conjunction with Veterans’ Day, an emergency grant fund to help keep veterans in school when financial setbacks strike.

Equitable Excellence Scholarship® 

The Equitable Excellence Scholarship® is celebrating 23 years of student support this year and distributing $500,000 in new scholarships to students across the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. In alignment with Equitable’s mission to help people achieve financial security so that they can face the future with confidence, the Equitable Excellence Scholarship® empowers students’ dreams so that they can continue to have positive impacts in their community.

Equitable will award 100 annual scholarships of $5,000 each. The scholarships will be renewed each academic year for up to four years, totaling up to $20,000 per recipient. Scholarship recipients will also receive special access to workshops centered around financial wellness, mental wellness and crucial professional leadership and development sessions tailored to support resume building and personal branding. Further, a $500 gift card grant will be awarded to each scholarship recipient’s teacher of choice for professional development or classroom supplies. Scholarships are granted based on financial need, academic performance and submission of a brief personal statement.

Applications for the 2026 program are being accepted online through December 18, 2025. All applicants must:

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be high school seniors planning to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
  • Reside in one of the 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
  • Be willing to provide a release to publicize their identities and information about their plans or achievements, along with photographs, for use in program promotion/information

Since its launch in 2003, Equitable Excellence® has awarded $30 million to approximately 7,400 students. Apply now to become part of the class of 2026!

HRG Charitable Foundation Scholarship 

Are you a high school senior passionate about science, technology, engineering, or mathematics? The HRG Charitable Foundation’s STEM scholarship program is offering up to five awards of $5,000 each to support your college education, plus valuable mentorship opportunities from industry professionals.

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a current high school senior
  • Live in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, or New Jersey
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Plan to study STEM at an accredited four-year college or university
  • Enroll full-time for the entire upcoming academic year

Beyond the $5,000 award, scholarship recipients receive mentorship opportunities from HRG professionals. This guidance can be invaluable as you navigate your academic and career journey in STEM fields.

While awards aren’t automatically renewable, students can reapply each year they meet the eligibility requirements, providing potential support throughout their undergraduate studies.

Wells Fargo Veterans Emergency Grants

Wells Fargo is committed to our nation’s military veterans. Through the Wells Fargo Veterans Emergency Grants Program, Wells Fargo helps ensure that short-term financial setbacks don’t derail veterans who are in pursuit of higher education.

Emergency grants are available to eligible veterans who are enrolled full-time in postsecondary education and who experience unexpected financial difficulties that might cause them to drop out of school. Grant amounts are based on the cost of the emergency need, up to a maximum of $1,000.

Grants are one-time-only distributions and can be used for expenses such as:

  • Housing/Rent
  • Utilities
  • Medical/Dental expenses
  • Personal automobile repair expenses
  • Public transportation/Bus pass
  • Childcare

Preference will be given to housing (rent or mortgage) requests. If you’re a veteran facing unexpected obstacles as you pursue the next steps in your education or career, Wells Fargo is here to help.
