The 2025-26 school year is right around the corner—and for some of you, it’s already in full swing. At Scholarship America, we’re here to help you break down financial barriers to your education. As the academic year starts, we’re spotlighting three featured programs, including the Health Scholars United scholarship for working medical professionals; the New York Life Financial Empowerment Scholarship for high school juniors and seniors; and the Ancestry HistoryMakers Scholarship, for students at eligible universities. United Health Foundation Health Care Scholars United Scholarship

The United Health Foundation has a tradition of supporting clinicians as they grow their skills and step into roles of increased impact in underserved communities. The Foundation’s commitment to that tradition continues in 2025 with the Health Care Scholars United Scholarship. This scholarship program supports health professionals as they work toward additional certifications or degrees in medicine, nursing, midwifery, mental health and other specialties to advance their careers.

The Health Care Scholars United Scholarship is open to current or former health professionals and will provide 650 awards of $3,200 to students seeking to advance their clinical skills.

To apply, you must currently hold an active license or certificate to practice in a clinical setting and be enrolled in full-time or part-time study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational-technical or graduate school as a post-secondary student. (Please note that physicians who are seeking additional certifications or degrees are not eligible.)

Ancestry HistoryMakers Scholarship  

Launched in 2022, Ancestry’s HistoryMakers Scholarship supports the next generation of changemakers. Applications are now open for $2,500 scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students at eligible universities.

If you’re attending Bowie State University, Florida International University, Tennessee State University, or California State University, Sacramento in the United States, or Queen Mary University, University of Westminster, University of Greenwich, or City, University of London in the United Kingdom, you may be eligible to apply. Eligible applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent.

HistoryMakers Scholarships are available to students enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate study in the fall 2025 semester through spring 2026 semester. All majors are invited to apply; preference will be given to applicants pursuing Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, Life Sciences, Marketing, Finance, Business, Economics, Business Management, Cybersecurity or User Experience.

In addition to the monetary award, HistoryMakers Scholarship recipients may be offered work placements, co-ops, or internships during the pursuit of their degree or career opportunities with Ancestry upon graduation. New York Life Financial Empowerment Scholarship

To inspire the next generation of students to become financially empowered, the New York Life Financial Empowerment Scholarship Program will award 20 graduating high school seniors from the Class of 2025 and rising high school seniors in the Class of 2026 with awards ranging from $10,000 to $20,000. In order to be eligible to apply, students must have completed at least 25 modules of New York Life’s Financial Empowerment Scholarship game in the Zogo app.

  • Eight $20,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who complete at least 50 modules in the game.
  • Twelve $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who complete at least 25 modules in the game.

New York Life provides over 180 modules for students to choose from, allowing them to tailor their financial education to their specific needs and interests.

Applicants must plan to continue their education after high school in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college/university or vocational-technical or trade school. Students from the Class of 2026 who are selected as recipients will have their award deferred for one year and will receive the award upon high school graduation and enrollment for the 2026-27 academic year.
