Bimbo Canada Dependents Scholarship Program

Bimbo Canada has established a scholarship program for eligible children and dependents of Bimbo Canada associates who plan to continue their education in university, college or vocational school programs. Ten scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Quebec-based students: Please use this document as a reference while completing the application. Included is a school-equivalency resource for comparing the French-based school system used in the translated version of the application to the Quebec-based system.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Bimbo Canada Dependents Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 26 and under, of full-time (salaried or hourly) Bimbo Canada active associates as of the application deadline date
    *Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the associate’s household or primarily supported by the associate. Children of common law relationships are also eligible.
  • High school seniors/students in their final year of upper or higher secondary school, CEGEP students, graduates, current technical or college/university undergraduate students
  • Planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, CEGEP institution, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year

Children of officers, vice-presidents, executives, franchisees and independent operators are not eligible.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 award. Up to 10 awards will be granted.

Awards are not renewable, but students(including past recipients) may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late May.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Bimbo Canada. Payments are made in one installment in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • A short essay* (200 word max)

*Essay topic: Please tell us about some of your personal experiences that will help you succeed in college or university, and in your future career.

Financial need will not be considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or associate of Bimbo Canada play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
