HII has established a scholarship program to assist employees who wish to enroll their dependent child in a tuition-based school readiness program.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the HII School Readiness Scholarship Program must be:
Children of Elected or Appointed officers of HII are ineligible to apply.
If selected, the recipient will receive an award of up to $3,000. Up to fifty (50) awards will be granted annually.
Awards are not renewable. Past recipients may reapply if they continue to meet the eligibility requirements of the program.
You will be applying on behalf of your eligible child (referred to as “applicant” and “student” throughout). The application will be submitted in the name of the eligible child. If applying for more than one child, you must create a separate student profile and application for each child. A unique email address must be provided for each child’s application. This means, if you are applying for two or more children, you must use a different email address for each. You will need to log out and register as a new user for each child’s application.
To start an application, all users will be required to create a Profile. Because most applications on our platform are for college scholarships, the Profile includes some required fields related to high school or college enrollment. In the case of this program, parents should use accurate information for all applicable questions. For questions that are not relevant (i.e. ‘Next Year in School’ or ‘College Major’), you may enter placeholder information. While these questions are required for the Profile setup, these responses will not be used in the review or processing of your application.
Scholarship recipients are selected on financial need alone.
Applicants will be notified in June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.
Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of HII. Payments are made in one installment in late July.
As part of your application, you must also upload:
