Dr. Lester Aronberg and Tony B. Scholarship and LACO's Leaders for the Future: Education Assistance Program

LACO Industries has established a scholarship program and an education assistance program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college or university programs. Scholarships and Education Assistance are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Dr. Lester Aronberg and Tony B. Scholarship and LACO’s Leaders for the Future: Education Assistance Program must:

  • Be dependent children* between the ages of 17-23 of full-time LACO Industries, LLC employees who have a minimum of one consecutive year of employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
*A dependent child is defined as a child between the ages of 17-23 who is claimed as a dependent on the most recent 1040 or 1040A federal tax form. Step-children, adopted children, and children for whom the employee is a legal guardian are also eligible. If divorced and the child is not claimed as a dependent, proof that monthly support is provided for the applicant must be submitted.
  • Be high school seniors, high school graduates or current college undergraduate students.
  • Be planning to enroll or already enrolled in a minimum part-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

Awards

Applicants to the single application will be considered for both programs.

Awards will be granted as follows:

  • Dr. Lester Aronberg award: One award of $7,500 will be granted.
  • Tony B. Award: One award of $2,000 will be granted.
  • LACO’s Leaders for the Future: Education Assistance awards of up to $1,500 will be granted to all applicants who meet the eligibility requirements. Recipients who receive this award are limited to a maximum of $6,000 over six years of enrollment or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.
  • Applicants may receive either a Dr. Lester Aronberg and Tony B. Scholarship Award or Education Assistance, but not both.
  • Recipients are eligible to receive the Dr. Lester Aronberg Award or the Tony B. Award only one time.
  • Awards are not automatically renewed. Students may reapply each year they meet eligibility requirements.
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only.
  • Should the LACO employee leave LACO before the dependent has completed a term for which the student has received education assistance, repayments will be deducted from the employee’s final paycheck and/or vacation checks. Once the employee leaves LACO, education assistance will cease.

All applicants will be notified in August.
