UFG Insurance has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the UFG Insurance Scholarship Program must:
*Dependent children are defined as biological children, stepchildren, or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
The awards granted will be $4,000 each for students enrolled in four-year colleges and $2,000 each for students enrolled in two-year colleges or vocational-technical school.
Total awards granted each year will be determined by UFG Insurance.
UFG Insurance Scholarship Program as designed will be submitted by United Fire Group Foundation to the IRS for approval for its compliance with IRS Revenue Procedure 76-47 and Scholarship America will administer it in the manner approved by the IRS. Scholarship America will not grant awards to more than 25% of eligible children of employee applicants. United Fire Group Foundation will ensure that scholarship grants will not be considered compensation for past, present, or future services or otherwise provide a significant benefit to United Fire Group or their subsidiaries as it will attest to in its IRS Form 1023 Schedule H 4(f).
Awards are not renewable but students are eligible to reapply every year they meet the eligibility requirements; however, if an individual receives an award, the recipient will not be considered ineligible to reapply if the recipient’s parent is no longer employed by UFG.
Students enrolled at a four-year college or university may receive the award up to four years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.
Students enrolled at a two-year college or vocational-technical school may receive the award up to two years or until a certificate or associate’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.
In addition, students who initially receive an award for a two-year college or vocational-technical school who transfer to a four-year college or university may reapply but may receive no more than four total awards.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
All applicants will be notified via email of their status in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.
Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.
