The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the BBU Scholarship Program must:

  • Be a child (includes stepchildren and legal dependent* children) or grandchild of a full-time or part-time Director-level or below BBU associate in the U.S. or Canada; associate must have at least one year of service with BBU as of December 31, 2024.
*Dependent children are children who qualify as federal tax exemptions to the associate.

Award Information:

Up to fifty (50) awards of $3,000 will be granted.

Provided there are qualified applicants, recipients from the U.S. and Canada will be selected in proportion to the number of applicants from each country.

The award checks will be issued in U.S. currency.

Awards may be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment required for course load at accredited, nonprofit two- or four-year colleges, universities or vocational-technical schools.

Students may transfer from one institution to another and retain the award.

Awards are one-time only. Past recipients may not reapply.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

In late June, applicants will be notified of whether they’ve been selected to receive a scholarship. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of BBU. Payments are made in one installment in August.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • An essay response regarding what a college education means to the student
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or associate of BBU play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
