KAG Scholarships for Employees and Dependents

The Kenan Advantage Group, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist its employees and their children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

KAG Scholarship for Employees and Dependents

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the KAG Scholarship for Dependents must:

  • Be dependent* children, under age 26, of full-time The Kenan Advantage Group, Inc. domestic employees who have a minimum of one (1) year employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
    *Dependent children are defined as children under age 26 including; biological children, stepchildren, foster children, legal-guardianship children, legal-adopted children, and children placed with employees for adoption.
  • Dependent children of executive-level employees are ineligible. Executive-level is defined as Vice Presidents, Executive Vice Presidents and C-level executives.

  • Be high school seniors or graduates or current college undergraduates.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

The dependent’s guardian must remain an employee at the time of disbursement of the scholarship.

Applicants to the KAG Employee Scholarship Program must:

  • Be a full-time Kenan Advantage Group, Inc. U.S. domestic employee, in good standing, with a minimum of one (1) year of employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time or part-time (minimum 6 credits) undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school for the entire upcoming academic year (those who will be graduating after the upcoming Fall term would be eligible for up to half of their amount).
  • Courses must be job-related, an elective, or a required course toward a degree-related program.
  • Remain an employee at the time of disbursement of the scholarship.

Awards

If selected, applicants will receive a $2,500 scholarship award. Up to 10 awards will be granted to employees and up to 20 awards to dependents of employees. Employee scholarship recipients must submit documentation of their cost of attendance before a check is issued.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements up to a maximum of four awards (one per academic year up to four).

Awards can be used for any education-related expenses.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of The Kenan Advantage Group, Inc. Payment is made in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of The Kenan Advantage Group, Inc. play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
