Northrop Grumman Scholarships for Employees’ Children

Northrop Grumman has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue full-time education for the entire academic year in college. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time undergraduate study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

Northrop Grumman Scholarships for Employees' Children

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Northrop Grumman Scholarship for Employees’ Children must be:

  • Dependent* children, 26 or younger, of full-time or part-time (who work 20 or more hours per week) Northrop Grumman employees with the company as of the application deadline date. *US Part-time status of 20 hours or more per week, International Part-time status all weekly hours.
  • Must be high school seniors/students in their final year of upper-secondary school or graduates who plan to enroll, or students already enrolled in a full-time** undergraduate course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree at an accredited two-or four-year college or university (or global equivalent) for the entire upcoming year.

FOR U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: Northrop Grumman National Merit and National Achievement Scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive the Northrop Grumman Scholarships for Employees’ Children. Students may receive only one scholarship from Northrop Grumman.

*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee and claimed as a dependent on parents’ income tax form.

**Full-time study is defined as full-time enrollment for the entire upcoming academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 USD scholarship.

Up to 125 recipients will be selected from the U.S. and up to 5 recipients will be selected from Northrop Grumman’s international locations. If there are not enough qualified applicants from the international locations, the remainder of the 5 awards will be designated to U.S. applicants.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree (or global equivalent) is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in mid-May. Notification is sent to the applicant’s email account provided during registration.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Recipients must return a completed Scholarship Acceptance Form to Scholarship America by the indicated deadline. Recipients must notify their college about the award.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Northrop Grumman for the Northrop Grumman Scholarships for Employees’ Children. Payment is made in early August.

International recipients receive a wire transfer of funds from Scholarship America once all required materials have been received.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience and/or home responsibilities
  • Statement of career and educational goals and aspirations
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Northrop Grumman play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Requirements

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • International students in their final year of high school/upper secondary school who have not completed a full year of college/university must send copies of their official final grades/marks from the past three or four years of high school/upper secondary school or copies of their end-of-year exam results if applicable.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
