GuideWell Dependent Scholarship Program

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the GuideWell Dependent Scholarship Program must:

  • Be dependent* children of current GuideWell employees** who have completed a minimum of two (2) years continuous part-time or full-time employment* as of January 1, 2026. At the time of Fall and Spring funds disbursement, the employee must either be active, or have terminated employment due to retirement, death, or reduction in force.
*Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
**Does not include temporary or contingent workers.
  • High school seniors or graduates, current undergraduates or graduate level students, age 26 or under, as of the application deadline date.
  • Study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year (Fall and Spring semesters), be enrolled on a full-time basis (at least 12 credit hours per semester for undergraduates) and actively pursuing an Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate, or Graduate degree.

One (1) child per family is eligible to receive scholarship funds for a given year, including renewal scholarships.

Dependents of any GuideWell Enterprise Officer or equivalent subsidiary role are not eligible.

Dependents of GuideWell employees who are also GuideWell employees are not eligible.

GuideWell employees may explore the tuition reimbursement program through their leadership team.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an $8,000 award.

Awards are renewable according to the following guidelines:

  • If originally awarded for an associate’s degree, the award is renewable for one year or until the degree is earned, whichever comes first. Students must reapply to the scholarship program to compete for an award towards a bachelor’s degree.
  • If originally awarded for a bachelor’s degree, the award is renewable for up to three years, or until the degree is earned, whichever comes first. Students must reapply to the scholarship program to compete for an award towards a graduate degree.
  • If originally awarded for a graduate degree, the award is renewable for up to two years, or until the degree is earned, whichever comes first. Students may use the scholarship to assist with one graduate degree only (i.e.: if used towards a Master’s degree, may not be used towards a PhD or MD).
  • At the time of Fall and Spring funds disbursement, the employee must either be active, or have terminated employment due to retirement, death, or reduction in force.
  • The recipient must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) freshman and sophomore years and a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) junior and senior years. Students attending graduate school must maintain satisfactory academic performance.
  • If studies are interrupted due to extenuating circumstances (e.g., illness, accident, or death in the family), recipients may request that the scholarship be postponed until the beginning of the next semester or school year. The request must be submitted to Scholarship America within two weeks of the incident. Scholarship America will submit the request to GuideWell for review and approval.
  • In the event the recipient chooses to temporarily attend an educational institution out of the country in a future year, Scholarship America must be contacted to discuss continued eligibility.

There is a lifetime maximum of four total years of assistance per student; renewability does not refresh with each new degree.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of GuideWell play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students not receiving the scholarship may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email. Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to.

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.
