The New York Life Financial Empowerment Scholarship Program identifies and awards outstanding high school students who have completed specified New York Life Financial Empowerment Scholarship game modules.
The New York Life Financial Empowerment Scholarship Program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the New York Life Financial Empowerment Scholarship Program must:
Children of employees and agents of New York Life and Supplier are ineligible.
*High school juniors who are selected as recipients will have their award deferred for one year and will receive their award upon high school graduation and enrollment for that upcoming academic year. Students must have completed their junior or senior year to be eligible to apply.
Assuming there are qualified applicants, a total of 20 scholarships will be awarded:
The game will provide at least 150 modules from which the applicants can select.
Awards are one-time only. Past recipients cannot reapply.
Awards are for undergraduate study, and can be used for any education-related expenses (e.g. tuition, fees, books, supplies and required materials). Awards cannot be used for non-educational related expenses (e.g. room and board, activities, travel, etc.)
Scholarship America will select finalists on the basis of:
Financial need will not be considered.
Scholarship America will identify and select program finalists, and New York Life will select the recipients from the group of selected finalists. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
All applicants will be notified in late October.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments. Payment is made in December.
