In 2017, Lifetime TV's Military Makeover reached out to Scholarship America and our partners at Wells Fargo, inviting us to appear in a segment looking at educational benefits for veterans. We appeared in Season 11, and surprised Marine Sgt. Ed Tague of Lake Worth, FL with a $10,000 scholarship to continue his Master's Degree program.

Michelle Ahola received a scholarship from mikeroweWORKS and Scholarship America

Through its scholarship programs, the mikeroweWORKS Foundation provides financial assistance to qualified individuals who desire to learn a skill that is in demand. The Foundation has been instrumental in encouraging trade school education across the country. Michelle Ahola was one of two mikeroweWORKS Work Ethic Scholarship recipients that helped us honor Mike Rowe at the 2017 Dreams to Success Awards.

Ilona Penner received a scholarship from Chick-Fil-A and Scholarship America

Adopted at age 16, Ilona Penner left her native Ukraine ā€” and the orphanage where sheā€™d lived for five years ā€” for a chance at a new life, and an education, in the U.S. She graduated in the top 10 percent of her high school class ā€” and her employers at Chick-fil-A surprised her with a $25,000 True Inspiration Scholarship!

Joe Palombo received a scholarship from Scholarship America's Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund

Established within one week of the attacks on September 11, 2001, the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund is providing scholarship aid to an entire generation who lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath. Joseph Palombo is one of those students -- along with nine other siblings, Joe was able to complete college thanks to Families of Freedom, and he now serves on Scholarship America's board.
