Scholarship America is proud to announce it has earned a 4-star rating — the highest possible — from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. This is the 13th time that Scholarship America has earned this top distinction since Charity Navigator began rating nonprofit organizations in 2002.
Charity Navigator’s objective, data-driven analysis awards only the most responsible organizations a 4-star rating, based on governance and ethical practices, fiscal health and transparency. They are designed to celebrate the charities that implement “best practices” to minimize the chance of unethical activities, and promote accountability and transparency by freely sharing basic information about their organization with their donors and other stakeholders.
“Scholarship America’s coveted 4-star rating puts it in a very select group of high-performing charities,” according to Michael Thatcher, President & CEO of Charity Navigator. “Out of the thousands of nonprofits Charity Navigator evaluates, only one out of four earns 4 stars — a rating that demands rigor, responsibility and commitment to openness. Scholarship America supporters should feel much more confident that their hard-earned dollars are being used efficiently and responsibly when it acquires such a high rating.”
“It’s important our donors trust that we’re using our funding wisely to make postsecondary success possible for all students,” said Robert C. Ballard, Scholarship America President & CEO. “Our 4-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates to our supporters that we take our fiduciary and governance responsibilities very seriously.”
