Featured Partner Scholarships: November/December 2020

Avatar By Matt Konrad

As the first semester of the “new normal” comes closer to its end, students across the country have done a remarkable job of adjusting. Virtual and hybrid programs have become the norm for many of you, and your education continues despite frequent and sudden changes.

We salute all of the students in high school and college who are pursuing their dreams in spite of a tumultuous 2020!

This month, our featured scholarships demonstrate the commitment of scholarship providers to local and specialized communities – and if you’re not eligible for the Educating America Scholarship or the AbbVie Immunology Scholarship, they’re also great reminders to search in your own hometown and among your own communities of interest. Educating America Scholarship Program

High school seniors and college undergraduates from Orange County, California, can now apply for renewable scholarships of up to $20,000 over four years from the Educating America Scholarship Program. This new program is providing awards for both two-year and four-year study in STEM, nursing and trade fields.

To apply, you must be a senior or graduate of an Orange County high school, and be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in an eligible field for the 2021-22 academic year. You’ll also need to have a 3.0 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale).

Students pursuing two-year degrees or certificates can earn awards up to $2,500, and these awards can be renewed for a second year. For students in four-year schools, scholarships up to $5,000 are available, and are renewable for up to three years or until you earn your bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.

The Educating America Scholarship Program will take financial need into consideration. Finally, preference will be given to students who have been orphaned, who grew up in foster care or who come from single-parent homes. If you’re from Orange County and you’re looking for funds to pay for college, don’t miss out on this opportunity!

The AbbVie Immunology Scholarship is a call for the independent, the bold and the determined. With this scholarship, AbbVie hopes to further empower students living with chronic inflammatory diseases to pursue an independent life defined by bold decisions and unyielding determination.

To support these students as they pursue their educational goals, AbbVie is awarding scholarships of up to $15,000, dependent upon type of degree pursued. Applicants must be legal residents of the U.S. and diagnosed by a healthcare professional with one of the following: ankylosing spondylitis (AS), Crohn’s disease (CD), hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), psoriasis (Ps), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ulcerative colitis (UC), or uveitis (UV).

AbbVie Immunology Scholarship funds can be used for undergraduate (associate’s, bachelor’s) or graduate (master’s, MD, JD, doctorate) study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the U.S. Students must be planning to enroll full-time for the entire upcoming academic year. To become an AbbVie Immunology Scholarship recipient, students must demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement and the ability to serve as a positive role model in the immunology community.
