ScholarShop Sr.
The original ScholarShop program, ScholarShop Sr. is designed to take students in grades 7-12 from the first steps of self-esteem building and career interests all the way to their first semester of postsecondary education. The ScholarShop Sr. workbook contains the seven learning modules listed below, as well as an extensive library of multimedia teaching tools.
Module One: Looking Inward (Self-Esteem)
By the end of Module One, students will:
- Appreciate their unique qualities, values and abilities
- Better understand how to take control of their lives
- Identify several tentative long-term goals

Module Two: Windows of Interest (Careers)
By the end of Module Two, students will:
- Determine initial areas of career interest
- Gather and use resources that will help them
obtain employment
- Experience application, interview and
resume-writing techniques

By the end of Module Three, students will:
- Become aware of a variety of postsecondary opportunities
- Identify a tentative career path for achieving long-term goals

By the end of Module Four, students will:
- Increase knowledge of four-year colleges and universities
and identify several that interest them
- Gain an understanding of the planning and preparation processes required for college admissions
- Develop a plan for attending college

Module Five: Looking to the Future (Admissions and Financial Aid)
By the end of Module Five, students will:
- Create supporting documents for application to postsecondary institutions
- Research financial-aid assistance
- Achieve an understanding of the financial aid process
- Calculate an expected family contribution
- Identify a variety of sources for meeting college costs

Module Six: Windows of Service (National & Community Service)
By the end of Module Six, students will:
- Identify characteristics and benefits of giving to and
caring about their communities
- Gain a greater understanding of the key people and organizations within their communities
- Plan, implement and receive recognition for a
community service project

- Identify and practice a number of study skills
and strategies

coping techniques
- Learn how to build networks of support and where to
go for help

*Module 7 is also available as a stand-alone component for high school seniors that have committed to attending postsecondary education and want a helping hand with the transition after high school.
