Scholarship America®, the nation’s leading nonprofit scholarship and educational support organization, is pleased to announce that Mike Nylund has joined the organization as the new VP of Sales for Scholarship Management Services (SMS), Scholarship America’s social enterprise that creates custom scholarship, tuition assistance and other education-focused programs for corporate, foundation and individual clients. Mike brings with him over 20 years of professional experience in sales.

Most recently, Nylund has held interim positions with Merrill Corporation, where he led a team of 150 people to provide consulting services to domestic and international clients. Prior to joining Merill Corporation, Nylund served as Director of Admissions at Regency Corporation, where he led various business projects related to admissions and financial aid processing.

Nylund is a graduate of Michigan State University and a former scholarship recipient. After graduating from college, Nylund worked as a sales executive and account manager for Black & Decker, Kohler Company, EVS, and Smurfit-Stone Container. He then moved to Capella University, where he worked in Financial Aid Operations, Customer Service and Compliance, working side by side with Sales, Marketing & New Product Development to ensure business goals were met while maintaining compliance with federal regulations.

"I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to combine my twenty-plus years of leadership in higher education and client services to Scholarship America because of its clear mission to remove financial barriers to higher education,” Nylund said. “As a scholarship recipient, I know first-hand the importance of scholarships, which fuels my passion to increase social mobility. This role will allow me to combine my experiences and passion to help Scholarship America carry out its mission to make postsecondary education possible for all students.”

“With his extensive leadership and sales experience, Mike’s expertise will be invaluable to Scholarship America as we continue to grow our programs to assure that more students succeed in their education beyond high school,” said Lauren Segal, president & CEO, Scholarship America.
