Is Digg defining a new direction for the curation economy? And could the new site help us cope with information overload?

50 years ago, Dr. Irving A. Fradkin, an optometrist in Fall River, Mass., had a simple idea: if everyone in his community donated just $1, they could send every student to college. That idea grew into Scholarship America, and our Dollar A Day campaign encourages education supporters across the country to give just one dollar a day in support of increased graduation, decreased student loan debt, and a stronger nation.

In conjunction with the Dollar A Day campaign, we are proud to introduce two new public service announcements regarding the importance of scholarships -- and the impact of this support.

About Scholarship America
Scholarship America is a national education service organization that mobilizes support for students getting into and graduating from college. Scholarship America has distributed more than $2.5 billion in scholarship assistance to more than 1.7 million students over the last 50 years. Scholarship America’s programs, which include Dollars for Scholars®, help fund both entry-level and multi-year scholarships, as well as emergency financial grants. More information is available at scholarshipamerica.org.

Keeping Dreams Alive

VanessaScholarship America's Dreamkeepers program provides emergency financial assistance to students at community colleges across the country who are faced with unexpected financial crises. These awards -- averaging $500 -- often make the difference between staying in school and dropping out.

Our Strategic Plan

2012-2025
Our mission is to make postsecondary education possible for all students; our goal is to assist 750,000 students in completing their education beyond high school by 2025. Our CEO, Lauren Segal, outlines the plan in this video.

A Dollar A Day

A Dollar a Day Nearly 1/4 of the U.S. population owes a collective $700 billion in student loan debt. We are committed to helping more students graduate from college with less debt. A gift of just $1 a day -- for a week, for a month, or for a year -- can help ensure that students are able to achieve their goals.
