Is Digg defining a new direction for the curation economy? And could the new site help us cope with information overload?

Selected as fourth-highest-performing charity in the nation

Scholarship America®, the nation’s leading nonprofit scholarship and educational support organization, has earned Charity Navigator’s coveted 4-star rating for the ninth consecutive year for sound fiscal management. Scholarship America was also rated as the fourth highest performing charity for excelling in three areas: financial strength, accountability and transparency, and effectiveness and results.

As America’s premier charity evaluator, Charity Navigator rates charities on their ability to efficiently manage and grow their finances. Only one percent of charities rated by Charity Navigator have received 4-star evaluations nine years in a row, indicating that Scholarship America outperforms most charities in America.

“On behalf of Charity Navigator, I wish to congratulate Scholarship America on achieving our coveted 4-star rating,” said Ken Berger, President/Chief Executive Officer of Charity Navigator, in a letter to Scholarship America. “This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Scholarship America from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

Charity Navigator highlights the work of efficient charities like Scholarship America, and provides donors with essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make. Charity Navigator’s website currently attracts more visitors than all other charity rating groups combined, thus making them the leading charity evaluator in America.

“Over the last two decades, tuition has increased rapidly, and many students are graduating college with more debt than they can handle, or they’re foregoing college altogether,” said Lauren Segal, president and CEO, Scholarship America. “As Scholarship America gets ready to celebrate our 50th year of helping students succeed, we recognize that our mission of making postsecondary education possible for all students has never been more important.”

“Those who wish to share in our mission of expanding access to educational opportunities can do so with confidence, knowing that Scholarship America is a financially responsible organization that puts students first,” Segal added.
