Software Engineer

Position Summary/Purpose:

Participate in the development and deployment of internal and external applications. The developer will work in a team environment and contribute to upgrades and maintenance for our existing systems as well as the development of new applications.

  • Design and build software programs in response to application requirements.
  • Adhere to programming standards and quality assurance guidelines.
  • Document work per standards for maintainability.
  • Modify web sites using appropriate software tools.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum requirements in terms of educational background work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • BS/BA in Information Technology or equivalent and 4+ years in IT
  • Experience in design, coding and unit testing of scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant web applications in a Windows environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational databases including Oracle & SQL Server.
  • Basic Windows system administration skills.
  • Knowledge of Apache, HTML, PHP, and Perl.
  • Experience with Subversion or other source control tools.
  • Knowledge of MVC design patterns a plus.
  • Good team player, able to drive resolution of competing architectural design.
  • Self-disciplined in a development environment that requires unit testing, documentation, adherence to coding standards and naming conventions.
  • Attention to detail, highly self-motivated.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to analyze information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate, listen to and understand information and ideas presented.
